Francesco Borromini, original name Francesco Castelli   (born September 25, 1599, Bissone, Duchy of Lombardy [Italy]—died August 2, 1667, Rome), Italian architect who was a chief formulator of Baroque architectural style. Borromini (he changed his name from Castelli about 1627) secured a reputation throughout Europe with his striking design for a small church, San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane in Rome. He differed from Gian Lorenzo Bernini and other contemporaries in basing his designs on geometric figures (modules) rather than on the proportions of the human body.

Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini, a famous Italian architect, sculptor and painter was born in Naples as the son of the sculptor Pietro Bernini on December 12, 1598. When he was still a child, Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini was taught his first art lessons by his father, and made such great progress, that he made and completed a successful angel's head in marble at the tender age of 10. When he moved to Rome with his father in 1608, Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini attracted attention due to his well-developed artistic talent at such a young age, and attended a masterclass, where he produced a number of busts including one of the Pope.

Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini adalah seorang arsitek, pematung dan pelukis terkenal yang lahir di Naples pada 12 Desember 1598, dan merupakan anak dari pematung Pietro Bernini. Ketika ia masih anak-anak, Bernini memperoleh pengajaran seni pertamanya oleh ayahnya sendiri, ia berkembang pesat, ia mampu mengukir kepala malaikat pada baru marmer pada usia 10 tahun. Ketika ia pindah ke roma bersama ayahnya tahun 1608, karena ketertarikannya pada bakat artistiknya yang mulai terasah dengan baik, ia mulai mengikuti kursus mematung tingkat

Baroque merupakan istilah untuk mengkategorikan perkembangan peradaban manusia (termasuk seni) dalam sebuah era yang terjadi di Eropa. Sekitar tahun 1600-1750, gerakan ini terjadi. Oleh karena itu, merupakan bagian akhir dari zaman renaisance dan merupakan awal gerakan protestantism yang terjadi di Jerman bagian utara dan Belanda. Baroque mempunyai arti mutiara pelengkap yang bentuknya tidak teratur atau tidak simetris.
